Teri Sears, Integrative Health Coach

A little about me:

I currently have over 8 years nursing experience taking care of patients with a variety of mental and physical ailments. As a nurse (LPN), my most recent experience includes specialty clinics. Over the years I have also had the pleasure of being a medical records supervisor, participated in biometric screenings at corporate wellness events, had private duty nursing cases, night shift supervisor at a nursing home, and care management with Humana to help minimize ER visits and hospitalizations for members.

How I Found Health and Wellness Coaching

I wanted a more effective way to help people other than treating symptoms and became more interested in the cause.

-Discovered that nutrition has a major role in how we function daily and the affects of daily diet overtime.

-Noticed that a lot of the disease diagnoses I was seeing was diet/lifestyle related and may have been prevented with good nutrition and healthy active lifestyle although I’m aware that not everything can be prevented nor reversed. I do believe in trying to prevent, change, and/or reverse what can.

-Was inspired to go on my own health and wellness journey. With a few lifestyle changes, I was able to lose weight that I had kept on for two years postpartum. By doing this, it changed my life for the better.

During this transformation, I was receiving my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.  I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods.
With this knowledge, I can help you to create an individualized “roadmap to health” that best suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.
What is Health Coaching?

A health coach is a wellness authority and supportive mentor who motivates individuals to cultivate positive health choices. Health coaches educate and support clients to achieve their health goals through lifestyle and behavior adjustments. Proper health coach training programs and health coach certification ensure that Health Coaches know how to work with diverse groups of people and equips them with the tools necessary to best fit the needs of their clients.-Institute for Integrative Nutrition

“The primary objectives of health coaching are to educate the patient regarding self health management and to encourage patients into taking a more proactive role in staying healthy.” -Medical Economics, Nov 2010
